Quick and Creamy Garlic Pasta With Peas

Quick and Creamy Garlic Pasta With Peas

Decadently creamy pasta doesn’t have to be hard. When you’re in the mood for a quick and easy creamy pasta recipe that doesn’t skip on flavor, look no further than this Garlic Pasta recipe that’s also loaded up with peas and crispy Halal beef bacon! It’s the ultimate simple dinner that you and the whole family will love, and it’s done in no time.

Jumping right into it, there’s only a few simple steps between you and the perfect dinner. First (and a personal favorite of mine) is cooking up some of Midamar’s Halal beef bacon. This is always delicious, and we only need a few strips for this pasta as it’ll get diced up and mixed in when it’s perfectly crispy.

But the bacon isn’t the only star of this show, it’s sharing with the Sno Pac Organic Peas we’ll be tossing in later as well. These are perfect for a recipe like this; they can stay frozen until you’re ready to use them and mix them into the sauce later.

And speaking of the sauce, I’m a sucker for a homemade creamy alfredo so you know I was excited for this recipe. It’s a simple thing to fry up a diced shallot with garlic until nice and fragrant, then pour in the heavy cream and add shredded parmesan in batches. That’s the most important step I think to making a good alfredo, small batches, mixing throughout so it all melts together, otherwise you end up with a lumpy sauce with uneven cheese and who wants that?

While the sauce simmer, you can cook your pasta. We went with an orecchiette, but any shell or scoop shaped pasta will do, whatever works best to scoop up your tasty sauce, peas, and bacon.

We kept our seasoning blend simple with the salt and pepper classic along with some ground fennel and freshly ground nutmeg. The nutmeg was awesome in this sauce; it complements the rich and cheesy flavor with an earthy nuttiness that really adds a much appreciated second level of flavor to an already very tasty sauce.

You can follow our recipe and you’ll be just fine, or you can taste the sauce throughout and adjust the seasonings to your taste. This is a great recipe for making how you like, simply, and without complicated steps so don’t be afraid to make it your own!

When the sauce is just how you like, toss in the frozen peas, mix in the diced bacon, and toss in your cooked pasta and you’re ready to dive in. That was easy, wasn’t it? This makes for an excellent dinner when you’re in need of something quick that is so incredibly full of flavor and is a delight to eat with the creamy sauce. But what do you think of this recipe? • Sno Pac organic peas
  • 1 shallot, diced
  • 5 large cloves garlic, diced
  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds
  • 8 oz orecchiette pasta
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ cup shredded parmesan
  • ½ tsp salt

Directions

  1. Bloom the fennel seeds over very low heat then remove from the pan and grind into a fine powder. Cook the beef bacon until crispy, then remove from heat to drain on a paper towel and dice into small pieces.
  2. Start boiling the pasta. Melt 2 tbsp butter in a pan over medium-low heat and cook the shallot and garlic until fragrant and golden-brown. Grate the nutmeg into the pan and add the fennel, mix and let cook for 30 seconds. Drain the pasta and reserve ½ cup of the pasta water
  3. Pour in the heavy cream, then add the parmesan in batches, mixing throughout until melted, then add some of your pasta water and mix until incorporated. Taste test the sauce and adjust your seasonings to your taste. Mix in the frozen peas and bacon until heated through, then add the drained pasta, serve and enjoy!
