Tasty and Convenient Pasta Casserole

Tasty and Convenient Pasta Casserole

Few things hit the spot at dinner quite like a nice pasta filled to the brim with juicy beef and hearty, tender veggies. Now imagine all of that, covered in cheese, then baked to perfection for the ultimate hot and tasty dinner, and now you’re imagining this weeks Halal Pasta Casserole recipe! It’s everything you love about a tasty Italian dinner but cranked up to 11.

We aren’t messing around with this recipe, so we went big with some big ol’ rigatoni for our pasta but penne would also be a great choice for this. While the pasta is boiling, it’s a chance to prep the veggies, and again we went big with a hearty blend of onion, celery, and carrots chopped roughly chopped for big hearty chunks of veg.

When the lightning fast prep is done, everything will cook together in a Dutch oven so all of those flavors can all come together and get to know each other. We used Midamars 93% lean ground beef, but an 80% would work great for this recipe as well.

Tossing everything in a pot is also how you’re going to get everything seasoned to perfection. It’s a simple blend of the classics, garlic powder, onion powder, and of course, a healthy dose of Italian seasoning for a savory blend of beef, veggies, and pasta that’s tempting to dive into straight from the pot.

As tempting as that may be, this is a recipe for a casserole and we’re almost done! Lay the mixture out in a casserole dish, top with plenty of shredded cheese, and toss that bad boy in the oven until nice and melty!

This is an awesome and versatile recipe for when you’re in need of a hearty dinner to feed the whole family on a busy night. It’s packed full of beef and veggies for a healthy and filling meal, if you want to eat it like a classic pasta from the pot then jump in, otherwise you can catch up on the few dishes while it’s in the oven. It’s a recipe that does it all, not just in flavor, but in convenience and that’s always an awesome bonus from a great recipe.

This makes plenty, so share it with a fellow pasta lover. If you have a favorite veggie that this recipe leaves out, give it a try and make this recipe your own. Let us know how it turned out for you in the comments here or elsewhere on social media, and we hope you come by next week when we bring you another Halal recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups uncooked rigatoni or penne pasta
  • 1 lb Halal ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 4 celery stalks, chopped
  • 3 peeled carrots, chopped
  • 1 can San Marzano tomatoes, chopped and separated from juices
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan, divided
  • 1 can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
  • ½ cup parsley

Directions

  1. Start boiling the pasta, while the pasta cooks, dice the onion and chop the celery and carrots. Rough chop the San Marzano tomatoes and set aside separate from its juices. When the pasta is al dente, remove from heat and drain it.
  2. In a Dutch oven over medium heat, add the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, and crushed garlic. Then add it the celery, onion, and carrots. Mix until everything is incorporated and seasoned and the beef is mostly browned.
  3. Add the tomato paste, tomatoes, and tomato juice, then mix and bring to a simmer for 10 minutes. Mix in ½ cup of the parmesan, the cannellini beans, and the parsley. Finally, mix in the pasta until everything is incorporated and the veggies have softened a bit.
  4. Spray a casserole dish with non-stick spray and spread out the pasta evenly in the pan. Top with the remaining parmesan, cover with foil, and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake uncovered for 10 more minutes until the cheese is melted over top. Serve with garlic bread and enjoy!
