The Perfect Servable Pizza Sliders

The Perfect Servable Pizza Sliders

Who doesn’t love a hot and melty slice of pizza? And with Autumn officially here, now is the time for tasty meals that can be made and enjoyed indoors with friends and family, and what better way to do that than with these meaty and cheesy Pull-Apart Pizza Sliders! They’re the best parts of a classic pizza, combined with the convenience and serv-ability of a tray of hot and ready sliders. Perfect for entertaining during a special occasion or any time you just want a fun and delicious way to enjoy the flavors of your favorite slice.

If you want to jump right into assembling these sliders, then this recipe’s a breeze, but we wanted to add a personal touch to this recipe by also making our own marinara. We love a homemade sauce here, especially one like this that is simple but a great way to adjust flavors to your own taste. In the case of this marinara, it’s a simple matter of simmering some crushed tomatoes with some onion, garlic, basil, and a few other choice seasonings. A store-bought sauce is fine and very convenient, but fresh is always better!

For the sliders themselves, we stuck with the classic flavors: sauce, plenty of cheese, and Halal pepperoni and beef topping, all on a tray of dinner rolls for plenty of pull-apart meat lovers pizza sliders. We used Midamar’s Halal beef topping and beef pepperoni for that classic, meaty pizza flavor. These are perfect for a recipe like this because they’re fully cooked already, so just toss them onto the sliders and they’ll heat up as they bake. Couldn’t be simpler! We also used plenty of freshly shredded mozzarella; pre-shredded cheese is fine, but for that really melty cheesy goodness, you’ll want some fresh shred.

Just lay out a pack of dinner rolls, slice them in half, and build these sliders like you’re making one massive sandwich. Spread the sauce over the bottom, add plenty of cheese and meaty toppings, and lay the top half back over it all, but it isn’t ready to bake just yet. We made seasoned garlic butter as well to spread over the buns. On top of tasting fantastic (a healthy amount of garlic makes everything better, I say), it will also help make the top of these sliders that perfect golden brown when they’re done baking.

And speaking of, when these are done baking, it’s time to pull one off and enjoy! These are an awesome way to enjoy that classic pizza flavor in a bunch of convenient little sandwiches that are ready to go in no time. They make for a tasty and fun dinner for the whole family or as a meal for hungry guests for any occasion, and with plenty of games days coming up, keep this recipe in mind. They’re hot, melty, deliciously meaty, and a great way to enjoy pizza and stretch your legs in the kitchen while you’re at it.

  • ½ yellow onion, diced
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp basil, diced
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Start by slicing the tops of the whole heads of garlic, lay them onto a sheet of aluminum foil, drizzle with olive oil, wrap in the foil and bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes.
  2. For the marinara, cook the onion in the olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat until it begins to soften. then add the crushed garlic and mix until fragrant. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and season with oregano, salt and pepper, and diced basil. Mix and simmer until it thickens and remove from heat.
  3. For the sliders, lay out a tray of dinner rolls and slice them in half, spread the marinara over the bottom then lay the provolone out over the sauce. Spread out the shredded mozzarella, beef topping, pepperoni, and parmesan. Top everything with the top half of the buns.
  4. For the garlic butter, when the garlic is soft and done baking mix it together with the rest of the butter and seasonings. While it’s still warm, spread this over the top of the sliders.
