Cowboy Butter Sauce

Cowboy Butter Sauce

Scrolling through instagram I happened upon a recipe for something called cowboy butter sauce. After watching the versatility of the sauce, I thought that it would be great to show how many of Midamar's high quality Halal products could take advantage of this trendy new recipe.

The beauty of this recipe is that it's more than just a sauce to be dipped into. While it is quite tasty to dip french fries or steaks into, you can use it in a large number of dishes because it also functions as a tangy compound butter. A compound butter is usually a butter that is brought to room temperature, mixed with a variety of ingredients, then formed into a shape and left to cool in the fridge. Cooling it returns the butter to a harder state, thus making it almost as usable as regular butter. The main difference is you have to be sure not to burn whatever you've added to your butter. That is the main difference in our butter, rather than bring it to room temperature, we're going to melt it down over low heat, add our other ingredients and let simmer for a short time. Then it's done! Simple as that; throw it on vegetables when making dinner, bring to room temperature and use as a dipping sauce for steak or french fries, or use to make things like pot roast.

That's it for us this week, if you'd like to see this recipe be made click here or find the full written recipe below!

Ingredients:

2 sticks of butter

2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

1 1/2 tsp hourseradish (or more to taste)

2 tbsp dijon mustard

2 tbsp fresh cut parsley (dry will also work)

1 - 2 tbsp fresh chives, sliced

1 tsp fresh thyme, finely chopped

1/2 tsp paprika

hot sauce optional

Instructions:

1) Melt butter in a pan over low heat, add all ingredients and bring to a soft simmer. Let simmer for 5 -10 minutes or until other ingredients are fragrant. Using a spoon, skim off any scum that forms on top of the butter.

2) Remove from heat, place butter in a container and let cool to room temperature. Use on chuck roast for pot roast, as a dipping sauce for french fries, or sauce for steak and enjoy!
