Easy and Delicious Chicken Philly Cheesesteaks

A great sandwich is hard to beat when you’re in need of a no-fuss lunch or dinner that also brings the flavor. And when it comes to great sandwiches it’s hard to beat the taste of a classic Philly Cheesesteak. I must admit that I’m biased, a cheesesteak is a personal favorite of mine, with juicy meat, tender veggies, and melty cheese, it’s a lot to enjoy, and that’s why I’m excited we get to bring you this recipe. These aren’t just any cheesesteaks though; instead of dark meat steak, these are made with quality Halal chicken for a tasty twist on a classic that’s lighter on calories but doesn’t skip the fantastic Philly flavor that makes this sandwich a classic.

For the most part, these are made with the same ingredients you’d expect to find on a classic Philly, meat, peppers, and cheese, so the prep is a simple matter of slicing some onion and red peppers into strips and Halal chicken breast into bite-size chunks. After that, we used a simple mix of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, and that’s most of the prep done already, these are the perfect sandwich recipe for a quick lunch or dinner that also provides plenty of sandwiches to keep coming back to.

Cooking the ingredients is quick and easy along with everything else in this recipe, all you need is a single pan on stovetop, saving you the hassle of dishes at the end. Cook the veggies together in some vegetable oil until they’re tender, then just keep them warm while you cook the chicken in the same pan until each piece is cooked thoroughly. When the cooking’s done, you’ll need a great bread to compliment these calorie-friendly Phillys. For that, we used hotdog buns for our bread to keep the sandwiches smaller, keeping with the idea that these are supposed to be a lighter alternative to a heavier Philly sandwich with dark meat and more carb heavy bread. Add a few slices of provolone cheese to the bun, then the still warm veggies and chicken is enough to give you soft and melty cheese without the need for any extra steps. But nothing’s stopping you from toasting these a bit to really melt the cheese and give the bread a little extra crispiness.

And believe it or not, that’s all you need! These could not be simpler, but they are absolutely delicious and were quickly added to the list of personal favorite recipes we’ve made. The veggies are exactly what you want from a Philly, soft and tender with just enough savory seasoning to make them that much more flavorful. But the real star of this recipe, unsurprisingly, is the Halal chicken that much like the veggies, the savory blend or onion and garlic pairs with the juicy chicken flavor we all love to make this a worthy addition to the classic Philly, and with the added addition of being a healthier white meat alternative.

It was a simple recipe this week, but simplicity doesn’t mean boring and in the case of these Phillies, it means just the opposite. I stand by saying these are up there with some of the other amazing recipes we’ve had the privilege of making because these are simply delicious.
